COURSE
(Module)
Description |
Professional Pathways begins with an exploration
of contexts – local, provincial, national and international – and
then uses those contexts to help participants explore a personal
definition of literacy. The course also looks at the skills and
abilities needed by the adult literacy educator in various literacy
settings and uses a portfolio approach to help participants demonstrate
the skills, knowledge and abilities they have as educators. |
COURSE
(Module)
Outcome |
Upon completion of this module participants should
be able to discuss the context for literacy delivery from global
to local perspectives and from this context develop both a personal
definition of adult literacy and a personal commitment to ongoing
professional development |

| ASSIGNMENTS & LEARNING
ACTIVITIES |
| To complete Professional Pathways
in Adult Literacy successfully you must submit for marking four
assignments and participate in a number of self-directed learning
activities. The value or weight assigned to each of these activities
will be set by the course instructor. Also, the course facilitator
or instructor and/or delivery agency may have additional requirements. |
| MODULE DEMONSTRATION
ACTIVITY |
| In addition to the successful completion
of the learning activities for each unit, this course requires
you to complete a demonstration activity. The demonstration is
the method by which you will show that you have met the overall
course outcome. In other words, to show you have learned what
you set out to learn as a participant in this course. Please
Note: For Professional Pathways you will create a personal portfolio
that allows you to show the skills, knowledge and abilities that
you already have and provide solid evidence of each of those. |
